Feeling Sorry For Celia

Feeling Sorry For Celia
By Jaclyn Moriarty

Elizabeth Clarry is having a pretty tough time. Here's why. First of all, her best friend keeps running away and doing things like joining the circus, and no one, least of al her mother, seems the least bit worried about her. Then out of the blue, her father turns up and expects her to bond with him. She is trying to train for a half-marathon, and to put a cherry on the top, her english teacher expects them to write letters to strangers from another school. And that's just the beginning.

Written all in letters, Elizabeth's life is unravelled through humour, sarcasm and tears. We, as the audience can picture Elizabeth's life with immaculate detail. First, we can see the pressure she puts on herself to be the perfect teenager. Going to the movies with friends, going on a date with a boy, these are all out of the question for her, or so she thinks. Secondly, we can see her thoughts of the world. We can see every little detail through her eyes. Thirdly, we can see how hard she always trys to be, not just the perfect teenager, but a perfect person. And lastly, we can see the struggles she faces through her eyes.

This wonderful book plays with our emotions. One minute you're laughing, the next you swear that you are going to burst into tears any minute. One minute you are in stitches on the floor, and the next minute you are sitting in silence as your heart shatters into little shards of glass. Yes, this book is quite an emotional roller coaster!!

This book was really, really good! I loved every single moment of it!
So, I declare this book a: 9/10 :)
